Indian Mint Update - Oct 08, 2011
The mint market in India is firming by the week. The poor crop, due to heavy rains has triggered an upward price trend. Farmers have been holding back stocks in anticipation of better prices, which has resulted in the slow release of Mentha oils into the market. International trade stocks are low so buyers have to pay the elevated prices that are causing addition pressure in the supply chain and again further price increases.
Piperita prices are also on the increase as last year many farmers switched some of their paddocks to Arvensis as traditionally they can earn double the price. This has resulted in a reduction in crop output when compared to the previous year.
